Registry Cleaner for x64
There are many registry cleaners in
the market which claim x64 compatible, however, almost all of them
are NOT compatible with x64 at all. They just run on x64, but not
aware of x64. Such registry cleaner even doesn't know it is running
on the x64 version of Windows and it just treats it as 32 bit
Windows, so it can only find a small part of the registry problems
(only from the 32 bit part of the registry view). Further more, as
they cannot even view the whole registry, using such registry

whether a registry cleaner is x64 compatible? Here is a simple
method to test whether a registry cleaner is x64 compatible. Any
real x64 compatible registry cleaner will 100% pass this test, and you can
use this method to find out those unreliable/unsafe registry
cleaners. (The method is to add an incorrect key to the 64 bit view
of registry and see whether the registry cleaner can find it)
1. Download the file
x64test.exe and run it. (It will
create a key under the App Paths section of your 64 bit view of
registry). After running it, you should get a message box like
below.
2. Use the registry cleaner to scan
your registry. If the registry cleaner is x64 compatible, it will
find an incorrect registry item under:

Paths\x64testa.exe
Default Value: %ProgramFiles%\x64testa\x64testa.exe
(The reason this registry value is
incorrect is because that file doesn't exist) |
3. If your registry cleaner doesn't
find this problem, then it is 100% NOT x64 compatible and you
SHOULD NOT trust/use such registry cleaner on your x64 system.
